Swetha Basu Prasad's 'Nuvvekkadunte Nenakkadunta'

Swetha Basu Prasad's new film with Uday Kiran has been titled 'Nuvvekkadunte Nenakkadunta'. It is known that the film has been shot in Puducherry for most part, and Hyderabad and Chennai to a good extent too. Directed by Subha Selvam, the film is produced by Eshwar Prasad and D Kumar, under the banner Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Films.

Pradeep Koneru is composing the music. For the fans of Uday Kiran, the film holds some promise because it is a full-on love story, where the 'chocolate boy' Kiran will be seen romancing Swetha.

Also, expect the actor to serenade with the Kasko girl, on the shores of the Puducherry beach. For the actor, however, the film is extremely important because he has not had a single hit for many years now. His films Ekalavyudu, Gunde Jhallumannadi, Viyyalavari Kayyalu flopped continuously. Meanwhile, he acted in the Tamil films Poi and Vambu Sandai, which did not help him catapult to the starry orbit. Hope, Nuvvekkadunte.. brings the glorious Nuvvu Nenu days back to him.

Shraddha Das goes Bollywood

Shraddha Das may so far be having a so-so career in Tollywood, what with her films her not-so-famous debut film and Diary or even her recent cameo in Arya2, failing to change her fortunes. But the damsel is all set to have her first Bollywood release, an international one at that.

Directed by Sanjay Chauhan, the film has Shraddha playing one of the most important characters. She is sharing screen space with Aanaaad and veteran actors like Nafisa Ali and Farooq Sheik.

She plays the character of Ida in the film. The actress plays a Pakistani girl and her role is meaty. So, we may say that Das has got her first worthy role to prove her innate talent. She plays a public relations officer for a kickboxing team, who overcomes a thousand blockades before she bags the job.

Hope Shraddha finally gets her due!

Tamanna roped in for 'Badrinath'

It is known that VV Vinayak will soon launch a film with Allu Arjun in the lead. The film is titled 'Badrinath' and is produced by Geetha Arts. The latest buzz about the movie is that Tamanna Bhatia has been roped in as the female lead in the film.

After 'Happy Days' and 'Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam', 'Badrinath' is the first film for the expressive actress. The actress, who is understandably choosy, has been looking for meaty roles and it seems that she has finally got one.

Now Tamanna must be a happy girl, because she has not only got one, but a big one at that. Arjun's stardom has only grown in strength after Arya2, where as Vinayak proved his mettle with Adhurs too.

So, expect a hit from Tamanna, who is currently doing more of Tamil than Telugu. She might also accept more and more Telugu movies after Badrinath.

Mumaith turns singer

Ever heard of any item girl in Tollywood turning a singer for one of her songs? The trend is quite alien to us, though Bollywood audience are no stranger to this. Mumaith Khan, Tollywood's most famous item girl, will sweep us off our feet with her voice.

Usually, her appeal as an item girl has been tremendous, but now it is to be seen if she repeats a success as a singer. In Puri Jagannadh's Goli Maar, the damsel is crooning a song, beside gyrating for it. Tuned by Chakri, Mumaith is learnt to have sung the song to good effect.

The film is produced by Bellamkonda Suresh, who is currently enjoying the success of his latest production Shambo Shiva Shambo.

It may noted that Mumaith is a regular feature in Puri's films. It all started with the raunchy Ippatikinka.. number in Pokiri, then for a gyan song in Neninthe and now 'Golimaar'.

In fact, the girl owes her success to Mr. Jagannadh in a big way, as he gave her the first break in Pokiri.

Rajani in and as 'Dr. Indira'

Yesteryear actress Rajani is doing a serial titled Dr. Indira, with an aim to promote awareness about health, cleanliness, hygiene, ecology et al. In this effort, the veteran actress says, she started the production house Film Media Creations and launched the serial Dr. Indira.

The serial is telecast in Doordarshan-Sapthagiri, on every Sunday and Monday. Directed by P Chandrasekhar Reddy, it stars Rajani, Vaibhav, Dwarakesh, Chinnikrishna and Roja in lead characters.

It was conceptualised by Padma Sri Kutikuppala Suryarao. The whole-hearted efforts of Rajani and team to promote an awareness about health, are highly appreciated.

Anitha turns 'item girl'

Remember Anitha of Nuvvu Nenu fame. When the film released in 2001, the Teja find was expected to become a star heroine in Telugu, but successive flops meant that she never attained the numero uno position. Let alone the number one position, she did not even raise an eyebrow ever. Some of us did see her in some mawkish soap operas on national television channels, and they did make her a bit popular in the television industry.

She has now turned into an item girl. In the Nikhil-starrer 'Kalavar King', the actress is jiving to a hot and snappy number. The song is being currently filmed in Hyderabad. If the song turns out to be a hit, will Anitha give the Mumaith Khans of the world a run for their money? The film is releasing in the month of February. Though not a big ticket release, it may surprise the audience who might go with bare minimum expectations.

Charmi in 'Indu'

P Vasu is directing a movie titled Indu, with Charmi in the lead. Vasu, who struck big time success with the blockbuster hit 'Chandramukhi' more than three years ago, is directing this message-oriented movie. This time he is touching upon a delicate issue.

The film comes with a message that girls have to be sent for a college education with complete faith in them, and not with a doubtful attitude. The film shows what might be the result if the parents thoughtlessly do so.

The makers are saying that they have chosen this "exciting point" with a view to dole out a message. Not only the story, even the narration will be anew, states a press release.

The film has been widely shot in Malysia and is produced by Murarishetti Laksham. The film is readying for a theatrical release. While P Vasu has written the story and screenplay, it has music by Vidhya Sagar. Peter Hynes is the action choreographer.

Kajal plays Bhoomi in 'Brindavanam'

We know that Kajal Agarwal has bagged a film opposite Junior NTR, in the production of Dil Raju. Titled 'Brindavanam', the film sees the actress playing a character by name Bhoomi. The actress, in an interview to IndiaGlitz, has said that she plays a character who is more of herself in the movie.

"I am currently shooting for Brindavanam. It has been great working with NTR and the director Vamsi (Paidipally). I play Bhoomi in the film, who is very reserved and quite an introvert. I am just enjoying the experience of working for the film and I hope it shapes up well and you guys like them," said the actress.

On the other hand, Kajal plays a bubbly girl in the film Darling. After 'Ganesh', 'Magadheera' and 'Arya2' in 2009, the actress is very much ready to bounce back in the new year with 'Om Shanthi' and Darling in a span of short time.

Wishing Kajal a great year ahead!

Kasthuri to make a comeback

Remember Kasthuri, who played some memorable roles in blockbusters like Bharateeyudu and Annamayya? The actress, who is married to a businessman, is all set to make a comeback to acting. Though she has been in the fray by involving herself in film distribution in the overseas, all these years she did not throw any hint of having any plans to return to the profession of acting.

The Tamil actress had started her career in Tamil, but subsequently acted in Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada too. In 2010, at least two Tamil films and a Telugu film of her set to hit the screens.

Kadhal 2 Kalyanam and Nootrukku Nooru are the films she has been roped in. Almost nine years after her last Telugu film Akasa Veedhilo released, the actress is thinking of signing on a Telugu film that she is currently being considered for.

At 33, the actress seems to be wanting to play character roles.

Bharat, Priyamani in 'Bet'

Bet is a film that has love and friendship as its crucial elements. It stars Bharat and Priyamani in the leads. Directed by Suresh Krishna, the film's Telugu version is produced by Tondapu Nageshwara Rao.

Bharat's Tamil dub Premisthe was a surprise hit in Telugu and the film ran to packed houses. After a long time, it seems that the actor is poised to score another hit finally. It is because, there were no note-worthy films from him after Premisthe, with one or two insignificant releases going unnoticed.

Also, Priyamani's presence is sure to work for its popularity, as the actress is popular herself. Speaking about the film, the makers said that Bet is a film that tells even if traces of selfishness can be found in love, how friendship is free from the same. Here Bharat plays a youngster who is ready to sacrifice his life for sake of friendship.

It is to be seen who enters into a bet with whom in the film. It has dialogue by Sashank Vennelakanti, while music is by Deva.

Genelia denies marriage

The Boys’ girl Genelia D’Souza is upset with rumours of her wedding with actor Riteish Deshmukh. A Mumbai tabloid had reported the romance between Genelia and Riteish that developed on the sets of “Tujhe Meri Kasam” six years ago is concluding in marriage this year.

But Genelia says she isn’t getting married to anyone for the time being.

“To set the record straight, I am not getting married to anyone. I have always maintained that my personal life is not something I would like to discuss. But this time since it was something that would affect my family, I decided to take a stand,” said Genelia in a statement released on Tuesday.

My films and my brands are my priority as of now and I’d like to keep it that way. And if I do decide to settle down, you will hear it from me when as and when it happens,” says the actress.

Genelia is right now looking forward to the release of “Chance Pe Dance” in which she is paired with Shahid Kapoor. The film releases on January 15.

Illeana to do Tamil film

At last, the good news of Illeana's willingness to do a Tamil film made her fans in that state quite happy. That she has not been able to do a single Tamil film in years, owing to her involvement in Telugu film after film here, is well-known. Illeana has reportedly signed a film with Vikram, much to the surprise of her rivals and fans.

To be directed by Vikram K Kumar of 13B fame, it has Chiyan Vikram playing the lead. The film was to kick off in the month of November, but it did not take off for some reasons.

What may have implored her to go to Kollywood now? Is it the money or the script? We guess it is the latter, because given Vikram Kumar's intelligence and Chiyan's flair for acting in quality cinema, which prodded the damsel to opt for a Tamil film.

Her latest film Saleem has bombed at the box office, which her disappointed fans feel she should not have signed in the first place. But, she should have given a nod because it was coming from none other than her first director YVS Chowdhary.

Hope she never repeats such mistakes and rules the roost in both Telugu and Tamil.

Vikram, awesome: Swathi

Eyes of the ‘Kangal Irandaal…’(Tamil) girl glow with happiness while narrating her experience working with Vikram for a film directed by Selvaraghavan.

Says Swathi, who started her career as an anchor for a Telugu television channel: “Vikram is a great actor and thorough professional. At the same time, he doesn’t have the ego that he is one of the leading actors of Kollywood.”

“He is a fantastic colleague who spreads his positive vibes to all those on the sets. He has that never-say-die spirit and ensures others in the team too have that attitude. All that he wants is quality output from everyone,” she says.

Recounting her experience with ‘Cheeyan’ when shooting in Kashmir where temperature dropped below zero degree, the actress says, “He went out of his way to make others feel comfortable. He made sure that no one had problems.”
